The Lovely Bones: A Review

Has there ever been a book that touched her heart so deeply that you wanted to just cry along with your favorite character? I recently got the chance to read The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. It is now one of my all time favorite novels. I couldn't put it down. I had watched the movie, excellent film, but not as good as the novel.
The Lovely Bones follows fourteen-year-old Susie Salmon as she tries adjusting to her new home in Heaven. Susie was tragically murdered by someone whom the neighborhood thought to be safe. While Susie watches from Heaven her family starts to unravel as they try to find her killer. As the clues unfold Susie wishes she could help them find the answers they seek.
This is an amazing novel. Full of  suspense, hope, and even joy, anyone will love this novel. It's  a definite page turner that you just have to finish.

  1. A couple of my co-workers were huge fans of the book, but disappointed with the film adaptation. I think because they felt it didn't capture what made them love the book.
Me, I only saw the movie... just out of curiosity because I'd heard about it. Not my type of movie by any means. The imagery in heaven was beautiful, but aside from that, I just found it so hard to get through. The ending was unsatisfactory, but sadly, there's a lot of truth to it. I just remember feeling numb for hours afterwards.

  2. I enjoyed the movie, however I found the book to be even more enjoyable. In fact I thought the book was better altogether.
