Bella's Point Elizabeth Seckman

Today on the blog we will be featuring the awesome Elizabeth Seckman. I will be pimping out Elizabeth and her book (which you all should get!), and also throwing in a couple of my own poems. I hope ya'll enjoy the post!

Here's a little bit about an amazing author:

Elizabeth is a wife, a mom, and a writer. She has four wonderful boys, one dusty house, and three published books to her credit. Feel free to check them out and buy them HERE! Erm, the books, not the kids or the house...though all things in life are negotiable ;)

You can find her here - Blog // Facebook // Twitter

And now one of my poems. Written about a friend who betrayed me:

 "Finally Free"
Betrayed...
sadness engulfs her.
Loneliness and hurt fill her soul.
Trust is broken by hatred.
Anger pervades her body.
Bitterness and bile takes hold of her heart,
Dread flows through her blood.
A thought crosses her mind,
as a smile touches her lips.
The anger slowly subsides,
giving way to better things.
Joy springs up from deep inside.
The hatred vanishes in the blink of an eye.
A single tear slips down her face.
All the pain has gone.
She's finally free.

The Blurb:

Isabella Troy Stanley is a divorced, slave freeing pariah surviving in the shattered post Civil War south the only way a fallen debutante knows how.
She heads to a Yankee prison and buys herself a husband.

Jack Byron is the former Troy plantation stable boy and object of young Bella's affection. He rejected her then, and he's still not sold on the idea of marrying her now.

 It’s complicated.

Though to Bella, it’s simple: make Jack love her, marry her, and live happily ever after. The plan seems to work...at least until her secret is revealed.

Another poem written to raise awareness against bullying:

"Hurt Never Heals"
I can't erase the scars I hide,
the emptiness, thoughts of suicide.
Falling down through despair,
reaching out, gasping for air.
Loneliness all around, crying out into the night.
Needing help with no one in sight.
The pain won't go away,
endless torture day after day.
I want to scream,
it feels like a dream.
Make it all subside,
this ache I feel inside.
Where do I turn,
in this on my own.
No one to help me,
no one can see.
Just how bad it feels,
the hurt never heals.

  1. Such sad, but deeply touching poems. Thanks for joining the challenge. Janie Junebug has been taking guest posts on bullying this summer. Not sure if she is still looking for posts, but the ones that are there have been very moving. Here's a link if you want to check it out, see if she still needs guests. http://dumpedfirstwife.blogspot.com/
